FORMER Queensland Roar utility Stuart McLaren is poised to make a shock A-League return after being snapped up on a short-term deal by Perth Glory. All that's stopping McLaren from playing this weekend is a Football Federation Australia clearance. But provided it comes before Sunday's 5pm (Queensland time) kick-off, it's understood Glory coach Dave Mitchell will have little hesitation in throwing the experienced defender/midfielder into the action at Members Equity Stadium. The 33-year-old, who was captain/coach of the Brisbane Strikers side that reached the grand final of this year's Queensland State League, will sign for Perth as cover for injury casualty Josip Magdic (ankle). |

Brisbane Strikers BPL Reserves secured a Grand Final berth at Perry Park last night with a 2-2 draw (5-3 aggregate) against Brisbane City. Trailing 1-2 at the interval, the Strikers produced a late equaliser in the second half to quash City's hopes of facing either Mount Gravatt or Rochedale next week.
Earlier, Brisbane Strikers' Division 6 Womens team were the first to attain silverware for the yellow and blue this season, defeating Bardon 3-1 in the Grand Final at Carmichael Park. |

When Buderim’s Marty Mason feels the attacking heat from the Maroochydore tonight in the Sunshine Coast football grand final, the Wanderers’ goalie will be relying on his own guardian angel.
Mason, the man who Buderim coach Alex Murphy rates as the best on the Coast, said yesterday he expects the ball to be coming at him like a tracer bullet. It is then that the winning or losing of the game will come down to the moves drilled into him by the Brisbane Strikers top goalkeeper Anthony Hall. |

Brisbane Strikers face the first legs of two semi finals today. The BPL Reserves challenge Brisbane City at Spencer Park with the KO scheduled for 12.45pm. Whilst the BPL firsts will be squaring off against Peninsula Power at Perry Park at 3pm.
Mount Gravatt's first team managed a 1-1 draw at home yesterday against league champions Rochedale, so a finals berth is proving to be anyones for the taking. With both Strikers sides being ejected from the BPL next season, an emotional finals campaign is expected from the yellow and blue faithful. |
