In the Strikers' second season in the QSL the BSSA will continue to provide a number of benefits to the Club and to supporters.  Activities will support both the QSL team and the U21 team.

Free Kick, E-Kick, MotM, PotS, Yearbook.

The Free Kick will enter what must be about its tenth season, and will continue as the match day program for home games.    There will be the expected contributions from the Head Coach, Stuart McLaren, the U21 Coach, Darren Sime, and each team captain.    We hope to feature one or two players in each edition in an article written by one of our favourite Strikers players, and to include information about "Man of the Match" and "Player of the Season" voting.  In the early editions you may well see messages from previous favourites such as Matt McKay and Michael Zullo

MotM - Man of the Match QSL.  Any financial member of the BSSA can be included in the five who vote for the Man of the Match at each home game.  The award will be sponored by one of the Strikers' many generous sponsors, and will be made at the end of the match, as in previous seasons.

PotS - Player of the Season QSL. This is where everyone gets a say (if they saw the match).  The idea is that you vote for the player who, in your opinion, contributed most to the game you saw.  There will be a voting slip in the Free Kick, and if you complete it, and leave it in the bins provided, your vote will count, and you could win a prize.  If your voting slip is drawn out as the winner your prize will be awarded at the next home game, by the player for whom you voted, and a photo of the presentation will appear in the following Free Kick (the home match after that one). It's going to be a good prize too.   More about Player of the Season voting later.

Yearbook. The BSSA will continue to contribute to the Yearbook this season.

E-Kick.  To keep fans up to date with what is going on, particularly with match reports and results, and tables, the BSSA will continue with the electronic newsletter - the E-Kick, by e-mail.  To ensure that you receive a copy of the E-Kick whenever it is issued, register your e-mail address (a link will appear on this web site soon).

Stand up for the Strikers in 2009.

The 2009 QSL fixtures have been announced and despite the hatred of byes, it should please most Strikers supporters after suffering a ridiculous succession of away fixtures last season.

However, it's still far from perfect, with Whitsunday fans having to wait until the seventh round for a home match. This issue will surely impact the club's attendances and potential 2010 sponsorship for both Whitsunday and the QSL; should it fail to gain favourable results early in the season.

Brisbane Strikers will commence their second QSL campaign on March 7th at Perry Park against the Queensland Academy of Sport.

Full details of the 2009 QSL fixture list can be obtained here.
